Counselling Psychologist | School Counsellor | Child & Adolescent Wellbeing

Meldrine Mureithi is a registered Counselling Psychologist and School Counsellor with over five years of experience supporting children, adolescents, families and vulnerable populations across school, community and healthcare settings. Her work combines counselling, student wellbeing, child protection and safeguarding, with a strong focus on emotional wellbeing, behaviour, family engagement and academic functioning.

She provides individual and group counselling for clients experiencing emotional, behavioural, academic and social challenges. Her experience includes mental health assessment, crisis and trauma support, psychological first aid, CBT-informed practice, parent and family engagement, psychoeducation, teletherapy and referral coordination.

Meldrine has extensive experience working with children and adolescents in school settings. She supports learners with emotional regulation, study habits, relationships, bullying, resilience, time management, self-esteem and behavioural challenges. She also works collaboratively with parents, teachers and learning support teams to develop appropriate interventions and Individual Education Plans where needed.

Her background also includes crisis and trauma intervention, grief counselling, support for survivors of gender-based violence, family difficulties, anxiety, adjustment concerns and psychosocial challenges related to illness. She has worked in both educational and healthcare environments, including Starehe Girls Centre, Faraja Cancer Support Trust, Thika Level 5 Hospital and Nairobi Women’s Hospital Gender Violence Recovery Centre.

Meldrine holds a Bachelor of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Kenyatta University and a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Her additional professional development includes Child Protection in Emergencies and Psychological First Aid in Disaster Management.

She is registered with the Counsellors and Psychologists Board of Kenya, Registration No. C&P/P/1616/2024, and is a member of the Kenya Counsellors and Psychologists Association.
